Germany and Israel shared a difficult past, but the future is bright. The two countries have worked towards reconciliation and strong relations over the years.
Currently Germany is Israel’s largest trading partner in Europe, with Israeli imports from Germany amounting to some 2.3 billion USD annually.
The countries have established a German-Israeli Youth Office to educate and build bridges between German and Israeli youth about their histories and the sensitivities and importance of their relationship.
Germany and Israel share a number of sister cities between the countries, Haifa has five in Germany, Tel Aviv has five, and Netanya has two.
There are extensive exchange programs between the two countries, including volunteer exchanges in hospitals and social welfare programs.
