Critically acclaimed American actor tours Jerusalem with his wife, who purchases two wedding rings
American actor Denzel Washington arrived in Israel on Tuesday for a private visit.
Washington, the son of a Pentecostal minister, arrived to visit his good friend in the past 20 years Dr. David Davis, head of the messianic Jews’ congregation in the Carmel, Haifa. The two met in drama school in New York and acted together in a Broadway show.
According to knowledgeable sources, the Hollywood star landed in the Holy Land with his family on a private plane, stayed at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, toured the Western Wall and other holy sites in the capital, and got a taste of hummus.
His wife, actress Pauletta Washington, visited the Padani jewelry store on Mamilla Avenue and purchased two wedding rings from red gold for her and her husband, and had the couple’s initials engraved inside. She also bought additional jewelry worth NIS 50,000 (about $14,000).
The actor himself purchased wine, cigars and other gifts.
Washington, 56, has won two Academy Awards and two Golden Globes and is considered one the most popular actors in Hollywood. He has been married to Paulettea for almost 30 years and they have four children.
