In 2003, five extremely talented musicians from Jerusalem, Israel, and Baltimore, Maryland came together to form one of the most unique and dynamic forces in the music world today. Suitably named Coolooloosh—a Jerusalemite word for celebration and joy—this is precisely what the band exudes with each and every performance. Touring the world with their intelligent blend of genres, Coolooloosh combines Hip Hop, Rap, Jazz, and Funk with the local sounds of Israel and Jerusalem. Consistently, pushing the envelope, the band is destined to break out internationally.

A diverse group of individuals, from varied musical backgrounds the band consists of Rebel Sun (MC), Yuval Gerstein (Guitar and Vocal) , Ori Winokur (Bass and vocal), Yogev Shitrit (Drums) and Arik Levy (Saxophones).

The band started its international career with an extremely well received show at the renowned Sodra Theatre in Stockholm Sweden in May 2007. Coolooloosh then forged on to tour Europe performing in the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, and Croatia, gaining major attention at every show.

At the invitation of Grammy® nominated engineer/producer David Ivory (The Roots, Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu) the band travelled to the U.S. in January of 2008 to record Elements Of Sound with Ivory at the helm. Featured on this album are the Soul Legend – Bunny Sigler (Instant Funk , The O’Jays , Patti Labelle )and the world famous percussionist Pablo Batista (Alicia Keys , Jill Scott , Diana Reeves), which lead to future collaborations on stages in Israel and the states.

Don’t miss your opportunity to witness this act at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest as this emerging group begins to take the world by storm and quickly becomes a powerhouse in the international music community.
“It is arguably one of the best live hip-hop bands in the world . . .

The band will continue to tour and bless audiences across the globe with their dynamic show. It’s only a matter of time before they become one of the largest international acts in the music industry”

Using only water from Rabin Square’s fountain, which is not fit for drinking, participants gather in bid to cool summer heat while raising awareness of Israel’s water shortage

Thousands of people took part in Tel Aviv’s White Night events deep into the night Thursday, but hundreds of them woke up Friday morning wanting more, and attended the city’s traditional water fight, which takes place every year in Rabin Square.

Armed with water guns, bags full of water, and a great mood, the masses gathered at the central square, and at 3:15 pm, the signal was given, and the participants began spraying at anyone and everyone in their way.

The cool water alleviated the extreme heat, and helped the participants handle the high humidity and scorching sun.

This year the traditional water fighter addressed the issue of the water shortage in Israel, and was held under the banner, “Fighting for every drop.” The participants were banned from using water from external sources, and were restricted to using water only from Rabin Square’s fountain.

The fountain’s water is not fit for drinking, watering plants, or cleaning, making its use legitimate in the eyes of the organizers.

The event was organized in cooperation with the group “Consensus”, which works to increase awareness of the need to save water.

Fox receives franchise rights to clothing chain, estimates cost of store operation for first three years at NIS 45 million. Israel will be one of first countries in world that renowned brand will reach as part of its strategy to expand beyond North America

It’s final: American Eagle is landing in Israel . Fox Group CEO Harel Wizel and American Eagle signed a contract last week, according to which Fox will receive the franchise rights to represent the American clothing giant in Israel. The opening is slated for 2012.

Fox estimates that the cost of operating the stores for the first three years will be NIS 45 million (about $11.5 million) and plans on funding the investment from private sources.

Israel will be among the first countries in the world that the renowned American brand will have a presence in as part of their strategy to expand beyond North America. In 2010, the company started distributing franchises outside the US and set up shops in Kuwait and Dubai.

In addition to American Eagle, the company’s subsidiary brand Aerie will also arrive in Israel. Aerie is a fashionable and trendy under garments store for young women. Aerie, which has 138 stores throughout the US, will be integrated into the American Eagle stores in Israel and will also be presented as an independent brand in stand alone stores.

The first American Eagle store is slated to be opened in Israel in January 2012. Until then, staff will be recruited and will undergo training in New York. Simultaneously, locations for the store will be scouted out in Israel. The store’s concept requires large stores of some 1,000 sq m (about 10,700 sq ft) each.

Lindsay Lohan seen out and about with female Israeli soldier Eilat Anschel

Is she LiLo’s new sapphic squeeze or just her smoking hot bodyguard?

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan has been spotted cozying up to Israeli military veteran Eilat Anschel quite a bit lately – and tongues are wagging.

The gossip site TMZ.com reports that Lohan has turned to Anschel for a “shoulder to cry on,” as she deals with the legal woes stemming from a Los Angeles DUI that require her to wear an alcohol-monitoring anklet everywhere she goes.

The pair was first snapped together gallivanting around the Los Angeles club scene last month. TMZ reported yesterday that La Lohan is now “totally obsessing over the chick.”

Lohan, Anschel and Lohan’s parents did not return messages for comment.

Anschel, who is from Israel, completed her compulsory military service just recently, TMZ said, which makes her more than capable of fending off any overzealous paparazzi.

Friends, however, warn that “it’s not the healthiest relationship in the world,” which would certainly not be a first for La Lohan.

The fiery 24-year-old siren had a long-running, stormy relationship with deejay girlfriend Samantha Ronson that served as tabloid fodder for years. The actress went in and out of rehab more than once during her relationship with Ronson.

The pair broke up in April 2009, but Lohan continued to make headlines with her hard-partying ways.

On Friday, Lohan – who continues to hit the club scene despite not being allowed to drink – got into a dustup during her 24th birthday party in which she claimed she was slugged by a waitress at an L.A. hot spot.

The waitress has denied the accusation.
